Australian Kei Shin Kan Karate Do commenced in Australia in 1971 by Shihan Masayuki Takasaka, with Shikan Kisaku Uchida joining shortly after, both dedicated to spreading the traditional art of Karate Do. In 1999, Shihan Uchida was appointed head of Kei Shin Kan Australia and continues to oversee the dojos today.
Kei Shin Kan Karate Do’s origins are from Okinawan roots. Focus is on developing on stable and strong foundations to continually develop and expand from.
Join our 12 week introductory course to traditional Japanese Karate where you will learn the basic techniques and principles of Karate, strengthening the body, mind and spirit. You’ll receive 1:1 instruction to ensure that your techniques are correct and progressing at a natural pace.
You’ll cover:
- Karate stances
- Basic kicks, punches & blocks
- Beginner combinations
- Self defence techniques
- Karate kata
- Controlled sparring
- Understanding of the tradition of martial arts
- Improved discipline and focus
- Developing self discipline, patience, respect and a strength of spirit
- Development of speed, power, timing, accuracy and correct breathing
